If you’ve ever traveled, especially around the holidays, you know how frustrating an experience it can be. If your flight is delayed, all the worse; airport terminals weren’t exactly built for comfort and nearby hotels are often booked solid this time of year. What’s a wear traveler to do?

If you’re going to be at London’s Heathrow Airport, you can just check into the YOTEL. Starting December 6th, there will be 32 YOTEL cabins available at Terminal 4. That’s good news for guests who want a top notch experience, but don’t have the holiday budget to spring for a five star hotel.

yotel-room.jpgYO! Founder Simon Woodroffe came up with the YOTEL idea, hoping to offer first class hotel accommodations at an affordable price. And it certainly sounds first class to me! Business travelers will have everything they need to get caught up on their work: desks, WiFi, and even modern entertainment systems and 24 hour room service for when the work is done.

I’m sure that the YOTEL, like everything else, has its critics. But I’m a little disappointed that we don’t have them here in the States yet. It sounds fun and different, two things that never fail to intrigue me. The bottom-dollar trend is getting tiresome; sometimes you just want quality goods and services for your hard earned money, you know?

The YOTEL’s extravagance is a sharp (and welcome) contrast to budget hotels that try to cut costs by going bare bones on their accommodations and furnishings. Gerard Greene, CEO, said that YOTEL had enjoyed success in Gatwick, and will be expanding their locations all around the globe starting in 2008. If you’ve ever become disgruntled by sub par hotel service, look for a YOTEL opening near you!
