tam-tam.jpgI’ve seen a lot of odd furniture in my time, furniture that aspired to imitate a falling orange peel, a saddle, and even a four-legged psycho spider. (No, I didn’t dream it. It really exists.) But the most crazily fun modern furniture designs are usually reserved for chairs, because it’s no fun to design something brilliantly complex if nobody is going to stand around looking confused and trying to figure out where to sit on it.

So, imagine my delight when I came across a plastic table with a very unique shape. The GM Tam Tam TV300 makes me smile, at least on the inside. I mean, what was the designer thinking? It looks like something your salsa or guacamole would arrive in at a Tex Mex restaurant. Or maybe part of a giant mortar and pestle, in which a circle of witch doctors would grind up a mystical concoction whilst chanting, “Tam Tam! Tam Tam!”. (No, I don’t know what it means, but trust me – never question a witch doctor with a giant mortar and pestle.)

As I mentioned, the Tam Tam is plastic, so it would make for good, weather-resistant outdoor furniture for your establishment. It’s a low table with a height of only 20cm. It would look good on a patio with complementary benches or low stools, used as a smoking or coffee table. It would also be a good kids’ table, hearty enough to stand up to whatever artistic experiments they decided to conduct on its surface. The Tam Tam would also be an… interesting choice for those in the market for new bistro cafe tables.

Did I mention the best part? The Tam Tam is available in metallic silver. Because what can you do to improve on a giant mortar and pestle? Make it metallic, of course!
